1. Overview
A teaching and research team with reasonable age, education and title structure has been established in the specialty of petroleum engineering. At present, there are 16 full-time teachers, including 4 professors (researchers), 2 doctoral supervisors, 5 associate professors, 7 lecturers (engineers) and 11 master supervisors, of which senior professional title accounts for 25%, deputy senior professional title for 31.25%, and intermediate professional title for 43.75%. 93.3% of full-time teachers have doctoral degrees, and all teachers have graduated from "211" or national key universities or overseas famous universities, with reasonable academic structure. Among the teaching staff, 9 have the working experiences in enterprise, accounting for 56.25%, which can meet the demand of engineering education. At present, there are 269 undergraduates and 3 international students. The laboratory covers a total area of 300m2and has 230 sets of various instruments, including experimental platforms for drilling and production engineering, reservoir engineering, enhanced oil recovery and unconventional oil and gas, which can provide support for teaching and scientific research projects.
2. Training Objectives
Facing the development needs of oil-gas industry, this specialty serves the integrated development strategy of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and cultivates research-and-application-oriented senior professionals who can engage in oil-gas production, engineering design, technology development, engineering management and scientific research in oil-gas engineering and related fields and have good professional ethics, high social responsibility as well as innovation and entrepreneurship capability. Students are supposed to grow into technical managers in production positions or technical backbones in scientific research and design positions through 5 years of practical training after graduation.
Curriculum:
Students of this specialty mainly study the basic theories of English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, mechanics and engineering science and the basic knowledge related to petroleum engineering.
The main courses for undergraduates include specialized core courses focusing on "reservoir, drilling and oil production" of petroleum engineering and featuring "petroleum machinery", and three specialty directions to encourage students to take specialized elective courses according to their interests. Main courses include the Geology of Oil-gas Field Development, Engineering Mechanics, Computer Programming, Engineering Fluid Mechanics, Seepage Mechanics, Reservoir Physics, Drilling Engineering, Oil Production Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Machinery, etc.
Specialized courses for postgraduates include the Advanced Fluid Mechanics, Advanced Seepage Mechanics, Advanced Drilling Engineering, Advanced Oil Production Engineering, Advanced Reservoir Engineering, Oilfield Chemistry,Oil-gas Well Rod and String Mechanics, Theory of Artificial Lifting,PetroleumGeology, Petroleum Tectonics, Reservoir Description and Geological Modeling, Petroleum Safety Engineering, etc.
Cultivation of innovation and engineering ability;
Specialty has always attached importance to the cultivation of innovative practical ability. Practical courses include the professional understanding practice, geological practice, metalworking practice, production practice, curriculum design, graduation design, etc. At present, one on-campus practice base and two off-campus practice bases have been established, and 39 off-campus part-time supervisors have been hired respectively from 10 enterprises related to the petroleum industry, with wide professional coverage. Most of the off-campus supervisors have worked on site for more than 15 years and have rich practical experience. Specialty has also made good achievements in the cultivation of practical innovation ability. Excellent achievements have been made in China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition: from the first to the tenth China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition, 13 second prizes were won in the comprehensive group, 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes in China Petroleum Engineering Knowledge Competition, and 1 first prize in the graphic competition. The department has won one special prize and one first prize in the Challenge Cup College Students Business Plan Competition in Hebei, and more than 10 national projects of college students business plan, one national second prize of mathematical modeling competition and one third prize of energy conservation and emission reduction competition.
Employment:
Most of the graduates are employed in central enterprises such as China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and large enterprises such as ZhongMan Petroleum and Natural Gas Group Co., Ltd. and Jereh Group, and mainly engaged in oil-gas production, engineering design, technology development, engineering management and other work; and nearly one third of the students went to China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Harbin Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology and other research institutes to engage in scientific research.
3. History of development
The specialty of petroleum engineering of YSU is the first and only specialty in Hebei Province with the authority to grant a master's degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering. The specialty was founded in 2002 and began to recruit undergraduates in 2003. As the first undergraduate specialty of petroleum engineering in Hebei Province, it was rated as the innovation highland of undergraduate education in Hebei Province in 2007. In September 2003, the specialty was approved as the master degree program in oil-gas field development engineering, in January 2006, the master degree program in oil-gas well engineering, in September 2009, the master degree program in the oil and natural gas engineering and in 2018, the master degree program in first-class discipline of oil and natural gas engineering. According to the demand of national defense, one class of national defense students were trained each year from 2006 to 2010; and nearly 10 international students were trained; in 2003, 30 undergraduates were enrolled; according to social demand, the enrollment was expanded to 60 in 2005 and 90 in 2016.
4. Future development
For the education and teaching, based on OBE teaching concept and CDIO project-based teaching mode, and according to engineering certification standards, explore and build a set of perfect training system and operation mechanism of the specialty of petroleum engineering. Strengthen the connotation construction, highlight the professional ability training around social demand, and train qualified socialist builders and successors with innovative thinking and innovative practical ability by means of teaching contents such as "theoretical teaching, project teaching, practice experiment, university innovative practice and professional competition" and based on the ideological and political elements of courses.
In terms of scientific research, it mainly focuses on three major study fields such as new drilling and production engineering technology, new conventional and unconventional oil-gas reservoir development technology, intelligent design and detection technology of oil drilling and production equipment, and continuously improves the scientific research ability of scientific research teams, accelerates the university-enterprise cooperation, strengthens the transformation of achievements between scientific research and teaching.
5. Achievements
In the past five years, the professional teachers have won one title of “Thirty, Three Hundred and Three Thousand” Talent Project, one moral pacesetter and one advanced moral individual in YSU. The discipline has won 2 provincial and ministerial S&T awards, 36 scientific research projects under research and completion, including 7 national projects, 7 provincial and ministerial projects, 10 bureau projects, and more than 10 enterprise cooperation projects, with a total income of 6.5 million yuan and 13 teaching reform projects. The department has published more than 100 papers as the first author or correspondent author, including more than 50 papers in SCI and EI, and authorized more than 10 invention patents and 2 software copyrights.
At present, the discipline has established three research teams focusing on drilling and production engineering, oil-gas reservoir engineering, oil-gas well measurement and equipment testing. In the direction of drilling and production engineering, the research level of oil-gas well rod and string mechanics is leading in China, and some research results have reached the international advanced or leading level, with certain influence at home and abroad; in the direction of oil-gas reservoir engineering, mainly focuses on the research of oil-gas field development foundation and enhanced oil recovery, which has achieved good economic and social benefits in the major oil-gas fields, and gradually formed characteristics in the research directions of unconventional oil-gas field development and new technologies of oilfield water injection development; the direction of oil-gas well measurement and equipment detection has driven the application of mechanical engineering, computer science and technology and other related disciplines in the field of petroleum engineering.
