1. Overview
The department has 14 full-time teachers, including 9 master supervisors and 8 associate professors (including 1 senior experimenter); 12 teachers have doctoral degree, 2 teachers has master degree, 1 teacher has enterprise work experience, and 4 teachers have overseas visiting and exchange experience. All teachers of this specialty graduated from "985", "211" or national key universities with the reasonable academic structure. Energy and Power Engineering Laboratory covers an area of 500m2, with 260 sets of instruments and equipment and a value of 2.2 million yuan.
2. Training Objectives
Based on the efficient and clean development, conversion and utilization of energy, this specialty is committed to cultivating the advanced engineering technology and management talents who integrate energy and power engineering knowledge with modern scientific development trend, with innovative and entrepreneurial awareness and international vision, professional knowledge such as energy conservation and emission reduction, energy utilization and power equipment and the ability to solve related complex engineering issues. After graduation, students can engage in scientific research, education and teaching, design and development, operation and management of energy and power engineering and related works in various departments of the national economy.
Major professional courses:
(1) Specialized required courses: Engineering Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer Science, Engineering Fluid Mechanics, Combustion Science, Thermal Control System, Test Technology of Energy and Power Engineering, Theory of Machines, Theoretical Mechanics, Material Mechanics, Fundamentals of Engineering Drawing, etc.
(2) Specialized elective courses:
a. Thermal energy of power plant: Principle and Components of Boiler, Principle and Application of Steam Turbine, Thermal Power Plant, Principle and Application of Heat Exchanger, Pump and Fan, etc.
b. Power machinery: Principle of Internal Combustion Engine, Design of Internal Combustion Engine, Emission and Control of Internal Combustion Engine, Noise and Vibration of Internal Combustion Engine and Control, Gas Turbine, etc.
Cultivation of engineering ability and innovation ability;
In order to ensure the engineering practice ability of students, the training plan stipulates that the engineering practice session shall not be less than 20% of the total credits. For the kinetic energy in power plants and power machinery, this specialty has established long-term cooperative relations with well-known enterprises such as Douhe Power Plant and Great Wall Motor which, as two main undergraduate practice bases, provide the internship opportunities for more than 90 students every year.
Specialty attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' innovative ability, and professional teachers actively encourage and guide students to participate in various competitions such as "Energy Saving and Emission Reduction", "Challenge Cup" and "Internet +" and the students have achieved certain results.
Employment:
Most of the graduates are engaged in product development and design, manufacturing, testing, engineering technology management and scientific research in well-known enterprises such as Datang Electric Power, Harbin Boiler Factory, CNNC, Great Wall Motor and Foton. Nearly one-third of the students were sent or admitted to Harbin Institute of Technology, Beihang University, Dalian University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tianjin University, North China Electric Power University and other domestic first-class universities to continue their postgraduate studies.
3. History of development
Founded in 2002, the specialty of Energy and Power Engineering (formerly Thermal Energy and Power Engineering) began to recruit undergraduates in that year; in 2010, it is approved to grant master degree in the first-class discipline of Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics (including two secondary disciplines such as the Thermal Energy Engineering, and Power Machinery and Engineering), and the first batch of postgraduates began to be recruited in 2012. At present, it is planned to recruit three undergraduate classes (about 90 people) and more than 10 postgraduates every year.
4. Future development
Student training: Based on theoretical knowledge, actively organize students to participate in the National Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Competition of College Students and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program of College Students, and provide students with shared practical innovation facilities, sites and teachers with effective guidance. Strengthen the construction of curriculum connotation and continuously improve the curriculum construction. According to the trend of economic development and social demand, constantly update the teaching content, and transform the achievements of scientific research and teaching reform into the teaching content in time.
Scientific research: build the scientific research teams, continuously improve the scientific research level and ability, and carry out research on high-efficiency and low-pollution advanced energy conversion and utilization methods and technologies, new energy and renewable energy development and utilization, etc. Strengthen cooperation with enterprises, highlight the combination of specialty characteristics and local development, and serve the national economy and industrial production.
5. Achievements
In recent years, the specialty has undertaken 23 vertical scientific research projects at all levels, including 3 national projects, 6 provincial and ministerial projects and 14 bureau projects as well as one provincial teaching reform project and more than 10 other teaching reform projects. More than 20 invention patents have been granted, and some achievements have been transformed; more than 100 high-level papers have been published with rich theoretical achievements and economic benefits.
